COLLABORATIVE VIDEO FOR CHOREOGRAPHY is a Lab exploring the intersection of choreography, cinema, and digital art.
In these four popular culture video clips, you can see how choreography is driving the narrative - either in the synergy of dance and the camera, in the camera movement itself, or in the editing.
Westside Story (Cool) -
GoodFellas - Copacabana Scene -
Beyonce's Countdown plagiarism of Anna de Keersmacker's Rosas
(The original video - Rosas is where the editing really pops the choreography) -
This course is a combination of lectures, discussions, and creative studies/projects with an emphasis on project-based learning.
The first semester provides an introduction to technical and narrative considerations when filming movement for documentation purposes, adaptations of live choreography, or experimental forms.
