THP 3000 (Dramaturgy) is for students interested in bringing research, analysis, and interpretation into the theatrical process through practical experience working as a production dramaturg.  Each student will be assigned to a production at Purchase College, working with artists and audiences to expand and enrich the theatrical experience.

The course will function as a workshop where students share their work, including (depending on the needs of the production) creating a sourcebook of textual and contextual research, using new media to share information, contributing interpretive analysis during rehearsals, and developing a program note, lobby display, and panel discussion for the audience.  We will also examine how dramaturgy, new play development, and literary management function as professions in the American theatre, including a discussion of opportunities (internships, graduate programs) available to college graduates.
