This class introduces drawing as a practice and as a means of expression. Through a range of drawing techniques and materials, students learn to strengthen their observational skills. Representational and nonrepresentational mark-making will be explored. We will study different creative approaches and draw inspiration from the history of art from different cultures and traditions. Class time will be divided between introductory lectures, drawing exercises and critique of submitted assignments.
