An introduction to the basic techniques of writing for the screen, beginning with the story. The elements of the story, including character, plot, conflict and theme are analyzed. Students learn to translate their creative writing into dramatic writing using these elements, and how to write a screenplay, including the proper screenplay format. Students write several short fictional stories and screenplays as well as numerous analytical assignments.
