This is a scene study class that focuses on telling the story of the scene with truthful/honest and purposeful acting. Actors will work on 3 assigned scenes over this semester. Exercises and/or adjustments will be introduced to help students to overcome obstacles in their scene work and acting technique. The course will include extensive work on listening and responding, establishing and playing objective, owning the given circumstances, actions, physical activity, moment before, the development and trust in the imagination and moment-to-moment acting. Students will discover how to make compelling, informed choices and how to take actions and choose behaviors that will help tell the story of the role, scene, and play they are working on. Actors will work with props, costumes, sets and text.

This course has a special component. 1 hour per week will serve as a Directing/Actor Lab. The 1st scene assignment with be observed by directing students from Directing 1. Your 2nd and/or 3rd scene will have directing students assigned to and will work together inside and outside of class. This will depend on how many directing students there are.
