To develop perception from direct observation, students study the history of landscape drawing and painting through on-site studio practice, using Pisciotta as the subject. Readings and discussions focus on major figures and periods in Western landscape painting. Students learn to use wet and/or dry media to capture a motif and the artist’s relationship to landscape and the site.
