In Crime and Delinquency, we will examine the scientific approach to the causes of crime. Beginning with a historical review, the major perspectives and some of their supporting theories will be explored. From serial and mass murderers to street gangs and from organized crime to white collar crime, criminologists have sought to identify and explain what they believe to be significant, causative correlations between some aspect of the human condition and criminal behavior.

Response to criminality by the agencies of formal social control will be critically examined.
